Ms. Jean Marie Haggerty

Herkimer, NY-Ms. Jean Marie Haggerty, age 77, formerly of 410 Park Ave., Herkimer, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Homelife at Folts, Herkimer. She was born October 20, 1940 in Amsterdam, daughter of the late Daniel and Eltha (Hodge) Laymon, Sr. She was educated in local schools and furthered her education at Herkimer College. Jean was employed for many years at Dapper Dans Dry Cleaning on Main St. and as an Election Inspector for the Herkimer County Board of Elections. Her last professional employment was with Curtains and Fabrics, Herkimer, where she was employed as a secretary.  She enjoyed volunteering her time on the Herkimer Citizens Advisory Committee: helping organize Easter egg hunts and Christmas in Meyers Park, providing children with sleigh rides and a visit from Santa.  Jean also spent years volunteering on the Herkimer Revitalization Committee.  Jean enjoyed spending time with friends and family, cooking, drives in the country, genealogy, garage sales, listening and dancing to country music, walking, and playing cards. Survivors include her beloved family; her sons, James Jr. and wife Emelie Haggerty of Michigan; their daughters Hannah and Joanna; son Roger and wife Sinia Haggerty of Indiana; their children Jessica and Tyler York, Jennifer and Austin Cummings, Roger Jr. and Brittany Haggerty, Sean and Angela Haggerty; son Brian and wife Penny Haggerty of Herkimer; their children Laura and Jesse; 10 great-grand children; a sister Donna Crim of Herkimer, 3 brothers Jerry (Elizabeth) Laymon, Larry (Becky) Laymon both of Ilion, William (Phyllis) Laymon of Malone, and many nieces and nephews. Jean was also survived by her cat Rocky who now resides in a loving home with Adam Martin in Canada.  She was predeceased by a sister, Norma Young; 3 brothers, Daniel Jr., Frank, and Timothy Laymon. The family will receive relatives and friends at Daniel J.
