Patricia Ann Schell Holleran, 90, a lifelong resident of Mohawk, passed away at her home on Tuesday, August 6th with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Little Falls on March 13, 1934, to Frederick and Mary Irene DuPont Schell. She was an honor graduate of Mohawk High School. Her marriage to Charles Holleran took place on May 30, 1953, at Blessed Sacrament Church in Mohawk. They shared a blessed union of over 71 years.
Patricia is remembered for her loving smile and acceptance of all people as she welcomed them into her home and into her heart. She was considered a “second mom” to many of her children’s friends.
At one time she worked at the Liberty Theater in Herkimer where she met Charles. She also worked at Oneida National Bank and was the secretary for Fred’s Express and Moving. Her most important and rewarding job, however, was taking care of her family.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Charles; her children: Colleen (Gary) Jackson, Mark (Stacey) Holleran, Erin (Ed III) View, and son-in-law John Petkovsek; her brother, Fred Schell and wife Anne of Mohawk; her 10 grandchildren: Shauna (Cory) Bishop, Kyle (Leanne) Williams, Matthew (Robyn Johannssen) Holleran, Holly (James Drake) Holleran, Brandon (Jessie) Yule, Krystyna Petkovsek, Bradley (Mali) View, Mary (Mark) Reece, Danielle (Preston) Brown, Marlee Holleran; and her 14 great grandchildren: Andrew Gatchell, Reagan and Molly Bishop, Luke View, Madison and Owen Yule, Alan and Alex View, John and Avery Reece, Aiden and Olivia Drake, Freya Petkovsek, and Maya Williams. She also loved all of her nieces and nephews so much. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Joan Swearingen, her in-laws, Francis and Mary Holleran, and her cherished daughter, Dana Holleran Petkovsek.
The family would like to thank her many caregivers who have helped so much over the past 2 years. In lieu of flowers, donations in Patricia’s memory may be sent to St. Francis de Sales Early Childhood Center, 220 Henry Street, Herkimer, NY 13350. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. We will receive family and friends on Monday, August 12th from 4:00 until 6:00 at Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Rt 5, Little Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 13th at Blessed Sacrament Church, Main Street, Mohawk at 9:00 AM.
