Mr. Paul F. Cambridge, 95, a lifelong resident of the Mohawk Valley passed away peacefully on Thursday afternoon, October 3, 2024. He had the love and support of his family by his side, when his passing occurred at Wynn Hospital, Utica.
Paul was born in Frankfort on Feb. 10, 1929, son of the late Bernard and Alice (Pickett) Cambridge. On July 30, 1955, Paul was united in marriage with the late Nora E. Burns in Annunciation Church, Ilion; a loving, blessed and devoted 68-year union filled with joy and happiness, until the passing of Nora on April 17, 2023. He was last employed with Herkimer County Community College as a Security officer. A proud US Veteran with the US Army, Paul served his country from 1950 until 1952 when he was honorably discharged, holding the rank of Cpl.
Mr. Cambridge was active and involved in the community and was honored as a 50-year member with the Mohawk Exempt Firemen. He also was a 72-year member of the Mohawk American Legion. Mr. Cambridge was always proud of his Irish roots.
Paul was sociable, humble, and possessed a friendly nature. A very hard worker, he always provided for his family. As a husband, dad and grandpa, Paul was admired by his loved ones. He was protective and gave the best fatherly advice laced with paternal wisdom. His family lived by the values he instilled in them. Paul never shied away from a good time. Wherever he was, he could draw people in. Paul lit up the whole room and brought so many people together in joy.
He is survived by his devoted children, Sandra Sweeney and husband Jack of Newport, Nancy Aiello and husband Thomas of Herkimer, Paul Cambridge and his companion, Sherry Young of Caroga Lake and Denise Dickson and husband Joseph of Davis, CA; his loving grandchildren, Adrienne (Kevin), Thomas (Jake), Tanya (Jordan), Megan and Jake (Banu); cherished great grandchildren, Alyvia, Gavin, Damion and Mason; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He also leaves his friends at church school with whom he shared many memories on Sunday mornings. Paul was preceded in death by his siblings, Teresa Lever and her husband, Robert, Bernard J. Cambridge and his wife, Wanda.
Paul's wishes are under the direction and care of Daniel J. Enea-Director of owner-operated, Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Route 5, between Little Falls and St. Johnsville, 315-508-5131. There are no calling hours. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to a graveside service commencing at 11 am on Friday, October 11, 2024, at Mohawk Cemetery, where his life will be celebrated. Military honors will be offered. The family would like to thank the staff of Valley Health Services Nursing Home for their kindness and compassion.
