Paula D. (Baylis) Baron

Mohawk NY-Mrs. Paula D. (Baylis) Baron, age 79, of Devendorf Street, wife of George Q. Baron, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, New Hartford, with her family by her side. She was born on Sept. 28, 1938 in Herkimer, daughter of the late Marshall and Pauline (Brunette) Baylis and received her education in Herkimer and Mohawk schools.  She was united in marriage with George Q. Baron on June 28, 1958 at Blessed Sacrament Church, Mohawk.  Prior to marriage, she was employed as a lab technician with Herkimer Hospital, and also employed for a number of years part-time in the cafeteria at Mohawk Central School.  Paula was a past president of the Mohawk Crowley Barnum American Legion Auxiliary Post #25.  Her years of service to the Legion Auxiliary gave her a great deal of pride and pleasure.  For many years she was a girl scout leader and later a member of the Minnowbrook Garden Club.  Paula found great pleasure with being involved in the community and most of all being with her cherished family. Survivors include her husband of 59 years, George at home; her children, Audrey Dunning, Esq. and husband David of Ilion and George L. Baron and wife Michelle of Mohawk and was preceded in death by her son, Andrew J. Baron who passed away in 1992.  Also surviving are her caring sister, Denise Baylis and her son Chance Kane of Mohawk and was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and William Baylis.  She is survived by her grandchildren, Jeffrey Buddenhagen, Jr. and wife Amie, George R. Baron, James M. Baron and wife Kelly and Steven A. Baron and wife Kassandra; great grandchildren, Brianna Vergnetti, Jeffrey Buddenhagen, III, Isabelle Buddenhagen and Lilly Baron; many nieces, nephews and cousins.  Paula was very close with her brothers and sisters in-law, with whom she enjoyed traveling and socializing. The Baron family offers their gratitude to Paula's at home nurse Kassandra Lebert and neighbors, Bob and Naomi Harvey for their kindness and generosity during this difficult time.  Also, thank you to the professionals at  MOVAC and St. Luke's Healthcare.  Friends may consider memorial offerings in Paula's name to MOVAC. Daniel J. Enea Funeral and Cremation Care, 5860 State Route 5 (near St. Mary's Cemetery), between Herkimer and Little Falls, 315-508-5250, has been entrusted with Mrs. Baron's funeral arrangements.  Visitation at Dan Enea's funeral home location will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017 from 5-8 p.m.  Members of the Mohawk Crowley Barnum American Legion will gather at the funeral home on Tuesday at 6:30 pm for ritualistic services.  Mrs. Baron's funeral will commence at 9:15 am on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017 from the funeral home chapel where transfer prayer will take place and a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am from Blessed Sacrament Church, Mohawk, with Father Mark Cunningham, Sacramental Minister, officiating, assisted by Sister Mary Jo Tallman, Parish Life Director.  Procession will follow to the original Mohawk Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest.  To offer online condolences, click to the left.
