Pauline Marie Fiore

November 3, 1927 — August 12, 2020

Herkimer, New York

Pauline Marie Fiore, age 92, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2020 at the FoltsBrook Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, where she resided for 4+ years, as a result of complications from the COVID-19 virus.

She was born on November 3, 1927, in Herkimer, the daughter of Dominick and Theresa (Porchetta) Fiore. She was a lifelong resident of Herkimer. Pauline graduated from Herkimer High School and worked at Broadacres as a Laboratory Technician for many years, which she enjoyed. She loved her field and had a particular interest in science and the nature of diseases.

In past years, she was an avid golf player, a sport she liked immensely. She and her sister Mary loved to play together and travelled the Country for golf and sightseeing. She also enjoyed watching and keeping track of sports, especially Football. She knew most of the player names. She had a very special talent of artistry and loved to paint and draw. A lot of her artwork was given to family members, keepsakes treasured forever.

Pauline was a survivor of breast cancer and had held Cancer research dear to her heart, helping other family members as well. She was intelligent, feisty, strong and had a beautiful spirit. She had a great sense of humor and quick wit, which was enjoyed by her family and friends and the staff at the Foltsbrook, with comments such as “we love Pauline, we love her feistiness and stories”. She loved animals greatly, especially her dog and cat which she had in past years. She loved telling stories of the past, especially of her neighborhood and her mother, father and sisters whom she missed very much throughout the years. She was so proud of her Italian heritage and her family. She was very generous and never liked taking gifts from anyone, but loved to give. She had a fulfilling life. Pauline was a member of the Saints Anthony and Joseph Parish in Herkimer.

She was predeceased by her parents, Theresa (Porchetta) Fiore and Dominick Fiore, her sisters, Angelina Purpura (Fiore), Inez Fiore, Mary Fiore, Jean Madigan (Fiore) and baby sister Paulina and aunts and uncles. She leaves behind several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews whom she held close to her heart.

The family would like to thank, with deep gratitude, the staff at the FoltsBrook Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation for loving her, being her friend and taking such good care of her, even through the last few minutes of her life. She will be missed deeply by both family and friends. Pauline and her family's care has been entrusted to Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Route 5 (corner of Bidleman Road), Little Falls, 315-508-5131.
