Richard Charles Helmer, age 75, of Pinetree Drive, Ilion, passed away on Monday afternoon, August 8, 2022 at Albany VA Stratton Medical Center. Richard was a proud Vietnam War Veteran serving with the US Army from 1966-1972. He was the son of the late Albert and Catherine Mary (Seaver) Helmer, born and raised on the southside of Herkimer. Richard had been residing with his devoted sister, JoEllen Shaefer in Ilion.
Arrangements are under the direction and care of Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Route 5, Little Falls (corner of Bidleman Road), 315-508-5131. In keeping with his wishes, a private burial service will take place at the convenience of his loved ones at Mt. View Memorial Gardens, Town of Little Falls.
