Little Falls, NY-Mr. Richard E. Van Pelt, age 72, of Catherine Street, beloved husband of Norma E. (Dye) Van Pelt, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, July 15, 2018 in the peace and comfort of his home. He was surrounded by his loving family, at the time of his passing. He was born in Edmeston, New York on August 12th, 1945, son of the late Richard and Grace (Munz) Van Pelt and graduated from Edmeston High School. Richard was an extremely proud veteran having served our country for four years during the Vietnam War with the US Marine Corps and was honorably discharged. He was united in marriage with Norma Dye on July 9, 1966 in West Brookfield, NY celebrating 52 years of marriage. Mr. Van Pelt was last employed with Birnie Bus, Utica as a driver. He was a member and past commander of the Little Falls American Legion Post 31. Mr. Van Pelt loved the outdoors, especially golfing and snowmobiling. He truly enjoyed his time at the Little Falls American Legion. Survivors include his devoted wife, Norma at home; children, Ronald Van Pelt and wife Bridget of New Berlin, Stacey Murray and husband Raymond of Little Falls, Richard I. Van Pelt and fiance Amy Christiano of Dolgeville; his siblings, Charles Van Pelt and wife Linda of Georgia and David Van Pelt and wife Debra of Florida; adored grandchildren, Jeremy, Kayla, Victoria, Grace Joshua; special great grandchildren, Brantley, Gavin and Lakin and his beloved friend and companion, Pugsy. Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations (Daniel J. Visitation, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend, will take place on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 from 11 am until 1 p.m. A funeral service will take place also on Wednesday at the funeral home following calling hours at 1 p.m. The US Marine Corps will offer military honors. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
