Mr. Richard C. "Skip" Colwell, Jr., 61, of N. Prospect St., Herkimer, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica.
He was born October 15, 1959 in Sackets Harbor, NY, son of the late Richard and Shirley (Johnson) Colwell. Skip graduated "Class of 1977" at Sackets Harbor High School. He visited Lake Ontario yearly and loved to fish. Skip also liked the Miami Dolphins and cars of all types. He worked for the Newman family at Midtown Autoworld in Herkimer. Skip’s favorite thing to do was spend time with his children and grandchildren.
Richard is survived by his loving family; his wife, Therese Colwell, his two children, Jennifer Dipierro and husband Michael, and Brian Colwell and fiancé Patty Kaczorowki; his grandchildren, Joshua Dipierro, Mia Dipierro and Jackson Colwell. Skip is also survived by his siblings; Brenda Kucerak (Marty), Kathleen Small (Steve), Sandy Thomas (Richard), MaryJo Rogers (Larry), Suzanne Nier (Orrie) as well as many loved nieces and nephews.
Richard and his family's care has been entrusted to Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Route 5 (corner of Bidelman Road), Little Falls, 315-508-5131. In keeping with his wishes, cremation will take place and there will be no services.
