Robert J. Huber
Herkimer, NY

Robert J. Huber, age 78, of Herkimer, beloved husband of Karen Huber, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home, early Wednesday morning, December 16, 2020. At the time of his passing, he had his loving family at his bedside and was under the loving care of our Hospice nurses.

His 1966 427 Corvette convertible, a piece of pie and a cup of black coffee, old car parts, fruit trees, and his flannel shirt/orange hat combination. These were a few of Bob’s favorite things. He was one of the smartest people you’d ever meet, but you might not have realized it because of his oil stained jeans, the smell of transmission fluid, and the way he could make any waitress smile with his genuine charm and wit. The eternal optimist and ultimate procrastinator, Bob was often heard saying “It’s all physics!” “What’s for lunch?” “Be part of the solution- not part of the problem.” and “Two wrongs don’t make a right”. He was a sucker for anything four legged, or anything that was on sale.

Clapton, The Who, Thorogood, and Bonamassa were his jam; but don’t mention politics, unless you’ve got a few hours to chat. He was kind, giving, thoughtful, patient when no one else could be, with indestructible will, and a heart full of selfless giving. He had a way of being logical while loving, inquisitive but accepting, and wise about things that seemingly he could not have known, but somehow did. He was brilliantly intelligent, but down to earth like someone you’d drink a beer with on any given Sunday (Go Pack Go!). He could create anything from German crepes to a full sized deck and could tell off color jokes directly after presenting research as an Executive VP in a large company. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix or anyone who didn’t like him. A mentor. A mechanic. A chemist. A guitarist. A gardener. A romantic. A father. A husband. A friend. An amazing man and human being. Big Block Bob.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Karen, his children, Leanne (Matthew) Paquette, Rachel (Evan) Jones, John Huber, granddaughter Nora Mae Huber-Jones, and his brother Richard Huber along with many nieces and nephews.
