Rose Marie "Roe" Hartmann, 79, a longtime Ilion resident, wife of late, Fred E. Hartmann, passed away December 28th, 2024.
Roe was born on August 8th, 1945, in Vallejo, California the daughter of John and Ameeta (Brown) Bumbolo. Roe graduated from Proctor High School in 1964. She went on to graduate with a Nursing Degree from St. Elizabeth College of Nursing. She worked at Mohawk Valley General Hospital in Ilion, NY working in various departments, including the ER. She continued her nursing career working at Dr. Mattern’s office in Ilion for years where she made many amazing friends. She had a love for people, even those she did not know, and this was shown in her passion for helping others as a nurse.
Roe had an unwavering love for her football team, the NY Jets. If it was Sunday, she was sure to be found yelling at the TV watching football with her husband Fred. She loved spending time with her family, playing pitch, crafting, and having summer cookouts. If it was Wednesday evening, she was in her chair cheering on Survivor. On any random day you could find her at the casino with Fred, playing the slots, one of her favorite past times. She had a love for camping and travel, Wildwood, NJ holding a special place in her heart.
Her daughter Jennifer and her husband Shawn, grandkids, Sascha and wife Ashley, Seth, Adam and great grandson, Walker meant the world to her. She was extremely close with her sisters, Gloria, Donata, and Loretta and brother, John. She adored all her nieces, nephews, and their children. Her family truly meant the world to her. She made incredible memories with family and many friends including endless shenanigans with her lifetime friend, Sue.
When you were in a room with Roe, you never had to wonder what she was thinking. Good or bad, she would say it out loud and you would just have to love her for that. She brought the laughter to family gatherings, with her boisterous demeanor. Her energy was infectious, and she was truly a force to be reckoned with. Roe was always the most outgoing person in the room and had a way of making friends with strangers everywhere she went. She will forever be missed by so many, and we ask each of you to carry on her legacy with you by bringing the life to the party.
In addition to her parents and husband, Fred Hartmann, Roe was predeceased by her beautiful sister, Carol. The surviving family includes her daughter, Jennifer (Shawn) Walrath, her grandchildren, Sascha (Ashley) Congdon, Seth (Sierra) Colangelo, Adam Walrath, her nieces and nephews Joseph, Alisa, Emily, Allesandria, Bryan, Terry, Andrew and Christine and many great nieces and nephews that she adored.
