Rudolph D. Rudy Lopez

August 14, 1934 — September 28, 2019

Mohawk, NY-On September 28th, 2019, Rudolph "Rudy" Lopez, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, met God with open arms at the age of 85, while surrounded by his loved ones. Rudy was born in Manhattan, NY, on August 14th, 1934. He was predeceased by his mother, Lena Katche, his father, Herbert Allan Lloyd Lopez and his brother, Herbert Allan Lopez, Jr. Rudolph moved to the Mohawk Valley in the 1950's shortly before entering the Army in October of 1955. He was later honorably discharged as a Private First Class in August of 1957. Rudy always worked hard at every job he had, and learned to do a little bit of everything. Even after retiring in 1996, he decided to go back to work. Rudolph loved the outdoors and enjoyed time spent with friends and family. He had a great sense of humor and even in his final days made it a point to make those around him smile and laugh.  He is survived by his son, Delano Lopez and Keisha of Cassville, NY, along with their children, Aleyla, Dalton and Dylan, his daughter Winnona Lopez-Yanson (Jamila Ellis) of Pflugerville, TX, his daughter, Susan Preston Hayes (Mark) of Cherry Valley, NY, along with their children Mark (Michael), Melissa Mistery (Kishan) and Josh (Katie) and their daughter, Leila, as well as two nieces and one nephew, that he had the pleasure of meeting before he passed.  Rudolph's family would like to thank the staff at Hospice and Paliative Care of Oneida, Herkimer and Eastern Madison Counties for their care and support through this difficult time. They would also like to thank the staff at LutheranCare and Presbyterian Home for their unconditional care, support and sense of humor, when it came to caring for Rudy. A celebration of life will commence at 12 noon on Saturday, October 5, 2019 from Mohawk Valley Funeral and Cremations, 7507 State Rte 5, Little Falls (corner of Bidelman Road and Route 5), 315-508-5131 with visitation hours from 10am - 12pm, prior to the service. Pastor Hans Drews, will be officiating and the US Army will provide a flag presentation with Taps.  Private interment will take place at the convenience of the family.
