Shawn Richard Liitt "One Dot", of Sixth Ave., passed away peacefully at the age of 49 in Cooperstown's Bassett Hospital, May 6, 2024 following his courageous battle with cancer.
He was predeceased by his parents Richard (Linda) Liitt and Kathleen ‘Riley’ Liitt, siiblings, Marietta Walters and Gary Liitt, aunt, Barb Perrone and uncle, Rodney (Laurie) Riley. Shawn is survived by his compassionate care giver, Stephanie Chaput, daughter, RaeLynne Chaput-Liitt, and bonus sons, Landen and Craig (Jr.) Latendress, his siblings: Cindy Liitt of Troy, Eric Liitt of Rotterdam, Michele (Mike) Schulze of Herkimer, Darren Riley, Chris Liitt of Canastota, Rebecca (Jason) March of Cold Brook, Roberta (Brent) Whitman of Morgan Vt., many nieces and nephews, aunt Patty Fithian, father-in-law Jeff (Amy) Chaput, mother-in-law, Rebecca (Enrique) Feliciano, aunt, Karen (Jay) Fukes and his dart family.
Shawn was born in Utica, NY, attended Notre Dame High School and proceeded on to Mohawk Valley Community College for his accounting and business administration degree. He worked at Walmart for many years, finishing as a Team Lead at the Herkimer location. He enjoyed playing darts, watching sports (Go Yankees!) and was a die hard Dolphins and Islanders fan. Shawn also enjoyed collecting baseball cards, Pops and spending time with his family and friends.
The family wants to thank you for everyone’s love and support during this battle. We will be holding a Celebration of Life at Ilion Marine Corps League on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at 2pm to which family and friends are invited to attend.
