Silas Edward Tompkins

St. Johnsville, NY-Silas Edward "Sie" Tompkins, age 56, of John Street, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 in his home. Sie was born on May 6, 1963 in Amsterdam, son of the late William Patrick and Diane Thelma (Dingman) Tompkins and he was educated in Fort Plain schools.  He always enjoyed being in the company of family and friends.  He was an avid sports fan and especially loved watching the Buffalo Bills along with NASCAR races.  Silas enjoyed playing his guitar and listening to music.  One of his favorite and fondest memories was introducing his son to music and he enjoyed following and attending his son's band. Silas loved a good game of darts and karaoke during his down time.   Survivors include his son, Silas Tompkins, II and Sara Walrath of Little Falls; the mother of his children, Sarah Tompkins of Little Falls; step daughter, Jamie Schulze and husband James of Ilion; two sisters, Teonna Pettingill and husband Michael of Seneca Falls and Renee Tompkins and wife Julie of Ft. Plain; grandchildren, Lily Edick, Baylie Monroe and Keegan C. Tompkins; many nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by his close friend, Shelly Maynard.  He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Christopher Tompkins who passed away in 1993. Silas' and his family's care has been entrusted to Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Route 5 (corner of Bidelman Road), Little Falls, 315-508-5131.  There will be private services at a later date with family and friends.  Click above to add to his online memorial.
