Stephanie M. (Vogt) Dyer

July 21, 1969 — January 6, 2024

Little Falls, New York

Stephanie Melody (Vogt) Dyer passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, January 6th, 2024. She was 54 years old and a lifelong resident of Little Falls, New York.

Stephanie was born on July 21st, 1969, the day man first walked on the moon, a fun fact she would enthusiastically share throughout her life. She was predeceased by her loving parents, Joseph and Faith (Snyder) Vogt. She was the oldest of three children and is survived by her sister Wendy (Vogt) Kanner and brother Leo Vogt.

From a young age Stephanie loved to learn, especially the sciences, a field she would go on to work in for the next thirty years. Even stronger than her love to learn was her love to help people. All throughout high school Stephanie worked in the Little Falls Hospital; first volunteering as a candy striper, then working in the dietary department closely with her mother. She graduated from Little Falls high school in 1987. She went on to attend Le Moyne College for two years, and after the birth of her son, Patrick Dyer, she finished her Bachelor’s of Science in Medical Technology at Utica College in 1992. This brought her back to the Little Falls Hospital where she would spend the next 26 years, first as a laboratory technologist and eventually working her way up to become the laboratory director. After leaving the Little Falls Hospital in 2020, Stephanie spent the last two years enthusiastically working as a laboratory technician at Mohawk Valley Health Services. Stephanie was nationally certified through the American Society for Clinical Pathology and proudly maintained her license as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist until her passing.

Five years after becoming a mom for the first time, Stephanie and her then husband, Robert Dyer, welcomed their second child, Alexis Dyer into their home. Stephanie would go on to dedicate the next 30 years of her life to raising her children, spending time with her nieces and nephews, working hard and helping others in any way she could. This included volunteering on multiple boards with the ARC for over ten years and the American Red Cross for the past three years.

Stephanie was a person who always looked on the bright side, but some of the brightest moments in her life included: living close to her parents, spending time with her siblings, watching her son and daughter graduate high school, watching her daughter graduate from college and celebrating her daughter’s wedding.

She is survived by her son, Patrick Dyer, her daughter, Alexis (Dyer) Pennington and her husband, Daniel Pennington, her niece, Samantha Kanner, nephews, Austin Vogt and Hunter Vogt, niece, Kiera Gates and nephews, Eric and Evan Gates. Stepanie is also survived by the following other important people in her life/ her found family: William Dyer, Melody (Snyder) and Richard Antanavige, Robert and Barbara (White) Dyer, Monica Freisner her children Kyler Friesner and Mackenzie (Friesner) Joynt, Steve and Kathleen Gates, and her cousin Patty (Vogt) Sklarz, and life-long friends Joe and Christine Famulare. Stephanie had a multitude of first and second cousins whom she was very close to and held dearly.

Traditional funeral services will be open to the public and held at Holy Family Parish, corner of E. Main and John Sts., Little Falls on Friday January 12th, 2024 at 11:00am where the Rev. Brian Slezak will celebrate her Mass of Christian Burial.  All are invited to a reception to celebrate Stephanie's life at the Little Falls Elks Lodge following the services on Friday from 12:30-3 pm. There are no calling hours.  A graveside service will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Herkimer.

In lieu of gifts, the family asked donations be sent to the ARC Herkimer.  Per her request, Stephanie's funeral arrangements are under the direction and care of the Little Falls owned Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Route 5, between Little Falls and St. Johnsville, 315-508-5131.
