Susan Lee (Harris) Thuener, age 90, of Mohawk, passed away on November 29, 2024, in Lake Placid, FL.
Susan was born on March 19, 1934, in Schenectady, daughter of the late Harold Harris and M. Lucille (Rowe) Vrooman. Her stepfather was Foster Vrooman. She was united in marriage with Otto C. Thuener who predeceased her. Susan was last employed as a registered nurse. She operated an appaloosa farm for many years and worked for Remington Arms at one time. Susan loved to read and enjoyed crocheting. She was of the Presbyterian Faith.
Survivors include her beloved family; a son David Thuener (Kristina Malloy) of East Herkimer, Cathleen McElroy of Florida, a brother, William P. Vrooman (Laura) of Florida, ten grandchildren, Chad, Casi, John, Libby, Jordan, Keriann, Jessica, Patricia, Amanda and Ryan, fourteen great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Karen L. Thuener and Linda A. Peters, a brother David Harris and a sister, E. Ann Garrett.
There will be public visitation on Monday, December 16, 2024, at Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations (Daniel J. Enea Director), 7507 State Route 5, between Little Falls and St. Johnsville, 315-508-5131, from 4-6 pm, followed by a celebration of Susan’s life to be held at the Mohawk American Legion until 8 pm.
