Susan Marie (Wart) Jones, age 68, of Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, wife of the late Richard "Dick" Jones, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday morning, February 5th, 2022 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica, New York, due to complications from open heart surgery.
Susan was born Dec. 27, 1953, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Utica, to the late George William Wart and Ruth Mary Waite Wart. She was preceded in death, in 2018, by her husband, Richard, whom she married in 1994, and a sister, Sharon Wart in 1977. Susan attended Clinton Rd. Elementary and Our Lady of Lourdes Schools and graduated from Utica Free Academy. She worked at Kelsey-Hayes for many years and received her nursing certificate in the early '90s. She worked as a nurse for the Rescue Mission and then as a home health care nurse for private patients. After retirement, she enjoyed meeting friends at the Vernon Downs Casino.
Susan leaves behind two sisters, Nancy Van Schooenderwoert of Belmont, MA, Patricia Wart of Utica and many friends who will sorely miss her. She also has a niece, Shanna Marie Richards, grandnephew, Jordan Charles Richards, and grandniece, Issy Marie Burnett.
At Susan's request, there will be no visitation or services. Her cremains will be interred with her late husband's at Crown Hill Cemetery, Clinton, NY privately. Kindly consider and send donations in her name to the H.A.L.O Rescue, 615 Albany St., Little Falls, NY 13365. Susan and her family's care has been placed in the trust of Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Route 5, Little Falls (corner of Bidleman Road), 315-508-5131.
