Thomas Francis Tom Davenport

Ilion, NY-Thomas Francis "Tom" Davenport, 61, of 11 Crescent Street, formerly of Otsego Street, passed into eternal life on Saturday morning, June 24, 2017 in the solitude of his home.  His passing ended a long and courageous battle with cancer.  He was in the loving presence of his wife, Mindy Sue Hope Barstein and his adored children. He was born on February 16, 1956 in Queens, NY son of the late Sterling and Marion (McCarthy) Davenport and educated in Queens schools.  He was united in marriage with his beloved bride, Mindy Barstein on Nov. 15, 1981 at Jets Stadium and the couple has shared a wonderful, loving union of 35 years.  Tom was last employed with Arjuna Broadcasting, Utica, NY.   Throughout his illness, Tom showed us all how to be courageous and graceful and always kept his sense of humor.  He was a gentle soul and is finally in peace and out of pain.  Tom was a man who never judged a soul.  He was a quiet man that taught by his actions.  He was a simple man, gentle and kind and always recognized the value of lifes simple pleasures.   He leaves his wife, Mindy of Ilion; his children, Jenna Miller and husband Andrew of Rochester, Maxwell Davenport and Nathaniel Davenport both of Ilion; eight siblins; his cherished dachsund dogs, Taffy and Jade, which brought him much comfort; many nieces, nephews and cousins.  Also surviving is his father in law, Zim Barstein of Ilion. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his aunt, Sister Rosemary McCarthy.  Memorial visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Monday, June 26, 2017 at Daniel J.
