Thomas E. Wren, Jr.

October 14, 1958 — February 14, 2024

East Herkimer, New York

Thomas E. Wren Jr., passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 14, 2024, at the age of 65.  He is now back in the loving arms of his mother and his aunt Ruth.  Those of us left behind will miss him dearly.

Tom was born and lived his entire life in the beautiful Mohawk Valley.  To say that Tom was special would be an understatement.  His personality lit up the room whenever he was around.  Tom is survived by his twin sister Theresa, sisters Beverly, Kathy, Janice and brothers Gary, Patrick and Danny.  He was predeceased by his mother, Carol, father, Thomas Sr and brother, Bernard.  Tom also leaves behind many nieces and nephews whose love for him was beyond measure.  A side note to all his nieces and nephews, Tom has retired his boxing gloves and remains undefeated.

ARC Herkimer played an integral role in all of Tom’s life.  After attending BOCES in East Herkimer, Tom spent the next 45 years as a part of the ARC Herkimer family.  While living at home he was able to participate in a full range of work and activities.  He loved to bowl (high score was 206), listen to music, go to dances and he absolutely loved ALL holidays.  His greatest joy in life, besides his mother and Aunt Ruth, was spending time with his siblings, going for car rides and stopping for ice cream.  Tom also loved to ride his bicycle all over East Herkimer.  He made many friends on his bike travels and I believe he rode thousands of miles over his lifetime.

Tom was also a Special Olympics athlete, and he was proud of all the ribbons and medals he won year after year.

A special thank you to all the staff at 211 Pine Grove Road in East Herkimer.  Tom spent his final years there and he could not have received more love and care.  I’m sure the staff will miss all of Tom’s antics and practical jokes.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Tom’s name to ARC Herkimer or the NYS Special Olympics.  Arrangements are being handled by Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Route 5 between Little Falls and St. Johnsville, 315-508-5131-Cremation Specialists.  We welcome all of Tom’s friends and family to join us at a visitation at Dan Enea’s funeral home location on Saturday, March 2nd starting at 12pm, followed by a brief service taking place at 1 pm.  A reception will follow the service at the East Herkimer Fire Department on Main Road in East Herkimer.  Please join us.
