Verna Marie (Nichols) Shasteen

Mrs. Verna M. (Nichols) Shasteen, age 66, a lifelong Ilion resident, passed away on Wednesday morning, Jan. 10, 2024 at Wynn Hospital.

She was born Sept. 2, 1956 in Herkimer, daughter of the late Leland and Ellen (Waldron) Nichols and educated in local schools.  She was predeceased by her husband John Shasteen.  Survivors include her children, William Taylor, Wayne Taylor, Doug Taylor all of Ilion and Joey Onorato of Arizona; siblings, Leland Nichols, Peggy Davis, Nancy McCaw, Tracey McCaw and Stacey Guthrie; sister in law Suzanne Wheeler; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her parents and husband and by her siblings, Larry, Randy and Brenda.

Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of life commencing at 12 noon until 3 pm on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at the Cold Brook American Legion, 529 Main St., Cold Brook.  Arrangements for cremation are under the direction and care of the locally and family owned Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Route 5, between Little Falls and St. Johnsville, 315-508-5131.
