Wendall Charles Wekelo

Herkimer, NY-Wendall Charles Wekelo, age 47, of Pleasant Ave., passed away in his sleep Wednesday morning, January 25, 2017, due to emphysema complications.  Wendall was born in Utica, son of the late Alfonso and Laurette Wekelo.  Wendall attended Utica and Herkimer schools and was a graduate of Herkimer High School.  Wendall is survived by his only child, Angela M. Wekelo, at home along with Laurie Young, (his live in companion of 17 years) and the mother of their daughter, Angela, also surviving are Laurie's daughters, Katelyn and Jessica Wiegand; a half brother, Joseph (Diane) Wekelo and son Christopher, and many long time friends. Wendall and Angela had a special bond and understanding of one another.  Angela chose to put her own words in this obituary and they are as follows. Wendall Wekelo was the best father and I'll miss him for the rest of my life. I'll miss everything about him, his laugh, his love of ship-modeling, his singing, and him telling me about his past and childhood. I loved my dad with all my heart and soul. I'll never forget him and hope that I'll see him again in the far future. By your daughter, Angela Maria Wekelo: Wendall was a loving, caring, and devoted father, and would do anything for his daughter. Laurie and Angela have the love and support of their family.
