William Walker Schmidt

William Walker Schmidt, age 68, of Barneveld, NY passed away on May 28, 2023 in his home after a long illness with his loving wife by his side.

Walker was born February 8, 1955, in Binghamton, NY, son of the late Merom and Regina Schmidt. He moved to the town of Ohio at a young age and attended Poland Central School. He worked at various logging outfits in the North Country and Mohawk Valley.  He held various positions as a mechanic, sign painter, worked with neon and rebuilt cars. He was considered a jack of all trades.  Walker was happiest when working in the barn with his tools. He took great pride in maintaining his home, lawn, and gardens.

On July 27, 1996, he was united in marriage with Linda Casler. They bought their home in Barneveld in 2001, where they have resided since.  Through the years they enjoyed camping, weekends in Old Forge, going to the Woodsman Field Days and spending time around a campfire. 

Walker is survived by his wife of 26 years, Linda. A special daughter, Sara Tyson and her family of Cold Brook, NY. Stepsons, Shannon Pollard and his family of Jacksonville, FL and Harley Creedon and his family of Deerfield, NY. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Karl Schmidt, who was his best friend.

In keeping with Walker's wishes there will be no visitation or services. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Rt. 5, Little Falls.
